Creative Response to Conflict (CRC) introductions exercise will
start off the session.

1:30 - 2:15 pm: WORKSHOP: Strategies for Green locals
(presenters from around the state)
2:15 - 4:30 pm: Second business session. One floating
fifteen-minute break is scheduled. One short CRC break is
scheduled for roughly 4:00.
4:30 - 4:45 pm: Wrap-up, restate any leftover business for
Sunday, adjourn for the day.
Saturday night: informal get-together / after-party, 8-12.
Sunday, November 18: 10 am - 4:45 pm
10 - 11:00 am: Reconvene, breakfast, leftover
business from Saturday.
11:00 - 11:45am: WORKSHOP: The Mayor's Justice 2000
Task Force and the Radiant Justice report (Richa and co-presenter)
11:45 am - 1:15 pm: Full-group brainstorm - topic(s) TBA.
Complete process: brainstorm, categorization, prioritization,
The objective of this time is to produce a number of Action
Plans in rough form.
1:15 - 2:00 pm: Lunch. Music 1:00 - 1:30.
2:00 - 2:45 pm: DISCUSSION: Green Party offices.
Issues, tactics, advice, and discussion. Pat
Harrison, the previously scheduled presenter, will be
unable to attend. This session time will be used to
extend the brainstorm to cover more topics, including
the offices issue. While the full-group brainstorm
continues on other topics, there will be an informal
SCC caucus (as well as over lunch) which should
include committee and local chairs present, which will
take the rough “action plans” and refine them.
These will then be presented back to the group at the
end of the day, or if there is no time, a brief report
from the caucus will be substituted. Either way, the
plans will continue to be worked on and subjected to
comment after this meeting, and brought to the next
SQM for debate and passage. The caucus may be extended
if necessary to run concurrently with the small-group
sessions.
2:45 - 3:30 pm: Small-group breakout sessions, topics
TBA. Concurrent with press time: Green Party reps make themselves
available for local print, television and radio journalists.
2:45 - 3:30 pm: Press time.
3:30 - 4:15 pm: DISCUSSION:
The discussion on campus organizing has been
cancelled, as Matt Aber-Towns, the previously
scheduled presenter, has indicated he now cannot
attend. This time will be used to extend the
small-group sessions and provide for a good wrap-up
from each group, including submission of a report.
4:15 - 4:45 pm: Presenting of reports from the SCC
caucus and the small groups.
Wrap-up, evaluation, dismissal, and closing circle.
Late-arriving Agenda Notes:
On the agenda note, I should also mention that in addition
to Ellis' workshop on Saturday we have a commitment from
Jim Moreno to speak briefly and a probable committment from
Mike Nowak to speak on Saturday. We have offered all three
the chance to help out in the Sunday brainstorming as well.
On the Sunday brainstorming: the agenda gives the basic
plan of action. We need plans (including objectives,
methods, timelines, funding if any, and personnel required)
drawn up in several areas. The topics we have scheduled to
address are:
1) Membership. Recruiting strategies, associated issues.
2) Fundraising. How do we get it and from whom?
3) PR and media. We need to 1) make sure people know about
us and 2) make sure they think good things about us. Media
strategy, message crafting, "branding," and associated
issues.
4) Local support and infrastructure. Locals and offices that
work well and well together. How do we get there?
5) Candidate recruitment and support. We need to recruit new
faces to fill out our ballot line. How do we do this? How
do we support the candidates we find?
6) Electoral and activist strategy. What is our overall
strategic plan for 2002, 2004, and the periods in between?
Include analysis of desirable/winnable positions, regional
focus, and activism campaigns for political "down times."
As you can see, we have a broad range of considerations to
take up. So think about these issues and what ideas,
suggestions, constructive criticisms, and so forth you can
offer to the group. It should be fun!
